The realization of convex and concave curved insulating glass panes presents significant technical challenges. Processing these complex geometries requires advanced precision and meticulous planning. 3D models play a crucial role throughout the project lifecycle, supporting continuous computer-aided design and ensuring accurate implementation.
The building envelope features a wave-shaped all-glass facade composed of a combination of curved and straight insulating glass panes. The curved panes, both convex and concave, reach heights of up to 7.2 meters, presenting unique structural and installation challenges. The supporting substructure employs a discreet steel framework to maintain transparency while meeting structural demands.
Key technical solutions include the vertical load transfer through tension rods, which efficiently distribute the weight of the large glass panes. Horizontal loads, such as wind forces, are managed using structural glazing (SG) bonding techniques. These methods ensure stability while preserving the facade’s visual lightness.
Additionally, the safe installation of the large curved panes necessitated the development of specialized handling equipment. A custom-designed glass lifter was implemented to maintain the highest safety standards during installation, accommodating the panes’ substantial dimensions and curvature.
