Hi! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Step Change, allow us to familiarize you with this awesome event! This all started back in 2013 when Scott Thomsen addressed the issue of incrementalism in the glass industry. The clock speed of the industry needed “step change innovation” to carry us through the coming years.

Here we are, drawing closer to the 2019 GPD-event, which will host the second Step Change-event, which turned out not to be only a really good idea for the industry, but a long-needed disruption to the glass business.

We have set out to inoculate the industry against obsolescence, incrementalism and boredom in general. This year we are dealing with Smart Cities and Smart building and Step Change will showcase the most innovative tech and ideas the industry has seen. Come join us and help us make this vision a reality!

What does your money get you?

Glad you asked – the fee, will get you a place in Step Change and the GPD. We encourage startups to opt for a 2x2m2 booth, which is included in the price, as well are the conference dinner, farewell party and early access match making tool.

The real end-game is the access to the GPD network, which is unique and not easy to access from the outside – which leaves us wondering, why you haven’t signed up yet?

The Event –  26.–28. June 2019

The GPD and Step Change will take place in Tampere, Finland, a singular place, to be sure. The end of June is one of the most rewarding times to visit Finland and our program and extracurricular activities will make it all the more enjoyable.

The event will be held at the Tampere Convention Center and Tähti Areena, where the conference sessions will line the hall, followed by a circle of industry exhibitors and in the center of it all, you will find the startups, which underlines how we feel about the need for innovation in the industry.

Referrals

Step change was great way of presenting the Brite  technologies to the attendees of the 2017 GPD.  It allowed me to get in front of companies that would be difficult or impossible to approach in a more traditional manner. The Step Change participation has led to many active relationships which will certainly speed up the market acceptance of the Brite glass products.

If you are entering the glass business, you have to attend GPD, and if you are bringing a new glass product or application into the glass market, you need to participate in the next Step Change program.

– Rick Orlando, Brite Solar Inc.
Winner of the Step Change Pitching competition

Step Change was a unique chance to present our patented technologies to the leading players in the glass industry. The event was so promising that after the first day our CEO Paul Brettschuh decided to join the event as well.

Winning the 3rd place in the GPD Step Change pitching contest in Tampere, which created lots of positive attention for our technology within the glass-industry and its surrounding companies and manufacturers is a confirmation for us that we are moving in the right direction.

– Claus Steinau, LightGlass Technology GmbH
3rd place in the Step Change Pitching competition

Workshops 25–26, June 2019

Our 4 –8 -hour workshops are intensive and focus on techniques and skills in a particular field (e.g. preprocessing, IGU, tempering, solar glass, structural glass facades, etc). The main purpose is communication and exchange of information among moderately small groups e.g. the number of participants for practical workshops will be limited from 5–15 persons and 20–50 persons for theoretical workshops.

Organizers of workshops have the freedom of choosing a topic, based on the conference overall theme, and can decide on how they would like to run the workshop. They also have the right to handpick attendees from the list of those registered for their workshop.

Workshop Proposal submission

If you are interested in organizing a workshop, please send us a proposal. This proposal should summarize the content of your workshop in 150 to 200 words. Once we receive your proposal, it will be reviewed by the GPD program committee and after that, you will be notified if it is accepted or not.

For more information about workshops, please go to our workshop guidelines

Please note that GPD does not charge any fees for organizing workshops.

To fill in and submit a workshop proposal form, please go to GPD 2019 workshops submission form.

Get your stand for Step Change

Each team is entitled to have a 2x2m2 stand, with some furniture to use as a base of operations or a meeting point. We would strongly recommend that each team have a stand, where you can show your demo or tech to people who will definitely be interested in what you are doing. More information will be available soon.
