Join us for our after-work activities! GPD 2025 Tuesday, June 10, activities are designed to enrich your event experience through a balanced combination of activities, cultural immersion, and meaningful interaction, set against the inspiring natural setting of Tampere. Select the activity that speaks to you the most, whether it’s a grounding yoga session in the forest, a fun and engaging football session, or a guided hike through local history. Each experience is thoughtfully designed to energize, connect, and leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s rain or shine, make sure to dress for the weather!

 

Football

Experience the global game with a twist! Friendly matches, mixed rules (think futsal and street styles), and teamwork. No matter your skill level, you’ll enjoy an engaging and social experience on the field.

Finnish Baseball (Pesäpallo)

Experience Finland’s national sport, pesäpallo! Pesäpallo is easy to learn, exciting to play and guaranteed to spark laughter while offering a truly unique Finnish cultural experience.

Forest Yoga

Connect mind and body in a serene natural setting with light movements, mindfulness, and grounding energy.  Held on a rocky surface near Lake Näsijärvi, this practice combines deep breathing, gentle movements, and the calming sounds and scents of nature (an indoor version is available if it rains).

Sport Fishing

Prepare your fishing mind, cast a line, and enjoy tranquil moments by the water’s edge. This relaxing activity introduces you to the basics of local fishing while allowing you to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Devils Trail Walk

Take a thrilling hike to Pirunvuori (Devil’s Mountain), where you can explore Finland’s stunning natural landscapes. As you ascend, your guide will share insights into Finland’s natural heritage, folklore, and cultural history.

Jogging Easy

Enjoy a light and scenic run through the beautiful trails of Kauppi. A slow and scenic journey with interactive themes and conversation points

Run Hard

For those seeking a more intense workout, this challenging trail offers an energizing pace, scenic views, and engaging obstacles along the way

Lakeside City Walk

Take a walk along the scenic shores of Lake Näsijärvi, where the lakeside landscape transitions into the historic Tammerkoski rapids. Along the way, you will see fascinating insights.

  • Distance 5 km or 7 km route—your choice!

Guided City Walk

This guided walking tour takes you to the banks of Tammerkoski Rapids to hear more about the industrial past of Tampere! You will see the old factory areas of the Finlayson cotton mill, which was once the largest textile company in Finland. You will see a lot of beautiful old red-brick factory buildings and learn about their history and current use. The meeting point is at Vanha Kirkko, Keskustori, at 18:00, with a duration of 1.5 hours.

Spectator/Outdoor Gym

If you do not wish to participate in the sport activities but still want to join the fun and cheer others on, choose this option! The spectator option is perfect if you want to enjoy the energy, company, and great atmosphere from the sidelines. Additionally, you can work out in the Kauppi outdoor gym.

Evening Sauna

After the sports, if you’re not attending the GPD Meet Up Lounge, come to enjoy an authentic Finnish sauna evening (at Hangaslahti)! Relax in the heat, dip in the lake, and enjoy good food, drinks, and company in a beautiful lakeside setting.

Remember to bring your swimming suit with you. The sauna venue has a traditional Finnish smoked sauna and electric sauna, both mixed. A bus will take you from Kauppi Sports Park to the sauna venue and back to the city center at 23:00. Seats are limited (58), and the spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

FAQ

What do I need to bring?

  • Outdoor clothing suitable for the weather
  • Running shoes or other comfortable shoes to run in
  • Camera, if you wish to take photos

How long will the activities be?

Each activity has a different duration, but they will take around 2 hours on average.

How to get to the Kauppi meeting point? What do I do if I am late?

We recommend taking tram number 1 from the railway station to TAYS B stop. Once there, look for the GPD beach flags at the street Kuntokatu.

If you are late, no worries! Take the next tram heading to the meeting point.

I don't want to participate in any sport, can I still attend?

Yes! If you do not wish to participate in the sport activities but still want to join the fun and cheer others on, choose this option! The spectator option is perfect if you want to enjoy the energy, company, and great atmosphere from the sidelines. Additionally, you can work out in the Kauppi outdoor gym.

I'm attending the Evening Sauna, can I attend the GPD Meet Up Lounge?

A bus will transport you from Kauppi Sports Park to the sauna venue and return to the city center at 23:00. Please note that this activity is not compatible with the GPD Meet-Up Lounge, which ends at 22:30.
