What did we get during last 25 years in the flat glass industry (1992-2017) and what we could expect for tomorrow?

Summary

That work has been prepared to celebrate GPD Finland (June 2017)’s 25th anniversary. Review of the main events, within the world flat glass industry, by a smart observer of the contemporary history, along last 25 years (1992 to 2017). Review of business, industry, companies, people, economy, processes, products & markets… Producers and fabricators of flat glass are the focused point, but suppliers are also on the stage. We will also look at key organizations, training and management of knowledge.

I am presenting what I have perceived being key events during these last 25 years to describe the scene of the world flat glass business.  I am trying to establish a synthesis of the main world events which occurred during that period for the flat glass industry/business and the whole environment.

I am trying, through a dozen of bullet points, to synthetize the key observations results of my analysis made over these 25 years (1992 to 2017) by looking into the world glass business/industry.

His last position was Director Quality for PPG Glass Europe. BJS.Différences provides worldwide consulting services (mainly in market survey & market analysis) for glass in building, industry, car & solar businesses. Bernard Jean Savaëte is also expert in glass history and glass companies history.
