All eyes on smarter glass
Glass performance days 2019
Workshops June 25-26, 2019, Tampere, Finland
Conference and exhibition June 26-28, 2019, Tampere, Finland
It is that time again for us to introduce and share new thoughts and concepts for the glass industry. As we issue this call for papers for GPD Finland 2019, we are sharpening our focus on the challenges the industry faces today regarding the ever-changing demands on City planning, building design, energy-efficiency and environmental fit. The buzzword out there now is smart cities and our eyes will be on how of smart glass will fit in the smart city environment.
In issuing this call, it is very important to remember that, in the GPD Spirit of sharing, we have jointly promoted our industry for the good of all users of glass globally. In 2019, our aim is to also enhance the same spirit of sharing, with start-up companies through the step change program
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
Welcome to Tampere in June 2019,
Chairman of the Organizing Committee
Speaking instructions & fees
There are specific rules you have to take into consideration before preparing any material you wish to present for any of the GPD conferences. Please note the following:
Abstract review process
The GPD program committee consists of experts from the glass industry and the scientific community. Together, they will review all the submitted abstracts for acceptance or rejection.
During the review process, the scientific committee will select some abstracts and invite the authors to submit their full papers for consideration in a special issue of the Glass Structures & Engineering journal. This is a double-blind peer reviewed Springer journal. For these abstracts, an extended abstract will be published in the GPD Conference book, with a special mention that the full peer-reviewed paper is published in the journal
Should your abstract be selected for the special journal, you will be required to submit your full paper within 6 weeks after abstract acceptance. The paper review typically includes one or more rounds of commenting and paper-improvements. Final publication in the special issue is subject to a timely final acceptance of the final paper. Papers that are not timely accepted will appear in a next issue of the journal.
Presenters whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentation during the conference will be required to submit their PowerPoint presentations for review by May 31, 2019Submit abstract
Workshops 25–26, June 2019
Our 4 –8 -hour workshops are intensive and focus on techniques and skills in a particular field (e.g. preprocessing, IGU, tempering, solar glass, structural glass facades, etc). The main purpose is communication and exchange of information among moderately small groups e.g. the number of participants for practical workshops will be limited from 5–15 persons and 20–50 persons for theoretical workshops.
Organizers of workshops have the freedom of choosing a topic, based on the conference overall theme, and can decide on how they would like to run the workshop. They also have the right to handpick attendees from the list of those registered for their workshop.
Workshop Proposal submission
If you are interested in organizing a workshop, please send us a proposal. This proposal should summarize the content of your workshop in 150 to 200 words. Once we receive your proposal, it will be reviewed by the GPD program committee and after that, you will be notified if it is accepted or not.

Please note that GPD does not charge any fees for organizing workshops.
